DLP Domian Controller Agent install for Windows
Purpose
The purpose of this document is to help others install the Symantec DLP Domain controller for Windows. In the install guide there is lack of information which doesn’t really cover the install process and the issue is that when you try to install you get an error. This document will cover the error followed by the correct way to install the program.
Installing the Agent
1. When the agent is ran by double clicking on the installer you get the following error when it tries to install
This is due to the lack of privileges the program has.
2. When you right click on the Agent installer you do not seen run as administrator as per the following image
3. To install the Agent you need to run this as administrator otherwise the issue in step 1 occurs. To overcome the administrator issue, when right clicking on the Agent installer hold the shift key down you should now see the option ‘Run as different user’ appear. Click on this option as per the image below
4. You will now be prompted to enter some credentials, enter the local administrator credentials. If your system is part of the domain use ‘.\’ to use the system credentials as per the image below
5. Once you have entered the details click ok and the install dialogue will pop up
Click next and accept the terms
6. Once you have accepted the terms and clicked next you will be prompted to enter the domain controller name
7. Once you have entered the information above click next and then enter in the user credentials as per the image below
8. Click next, you will now need to provide the details of the Enforce Server as per the image below
9. Once you have entered in the details click next and on the next screen enter the Enforce login details
10. After clicking next you will be asked to enter the comms interval, leave this as the default
11. After clicking next the install will take place, once the install has finished you will see the following image
You have now successfully installed Symantec DLP Domain Controller.
